Your Appointment at Lavender & Jude
If you are thinking of booking an appointment at Lavender & Jude or have already booked your appointment and wondering what to expect then this page is for you.
A little bit of guidance and useful info to help you on your journey in finding the most important dress youβll ever wear.
What to Expect at Your Bridal Appointment
Choosing your wedding dress is one of the most exciting parts of planning your wedding, but I know it can also feel a little overwhelming. If you've never visited a bridal boutique before, you might be wondering what happens, what to bring or even whether you'll find "the one."
At Lavender & Jude, I believe finding your dress should be a relaxed, enjoyable experience. The shop has been thoughtfully created to feel calm, welcoming and personal, giving you the time and space to explore beautiful gowns without feeling rushed or under pressure.
Before Your Appointment
Once you've booked your appointment, there's nothing you need to prepare perfectly.
You might like to spend a little time browsing for inspiration and saving styles you love, but don't worry if you haven't. Many brides arrive with a Pinterest board full of ideas, while others simply know they want to feel beautiful and comfortable on their wedding day. Both are absolutely fine.
If you already have your wedding venue, date or overall style in mind, it's helpful to share these with me. Knowing whether you're planning a relaxed garden celebration, a formal country house wedding or a beach ceremony helps me select gowns that complement your day.
Who Should You Bring?
We recommend bringing two or three of the people whose opinions matter most to you.
While it can be tempting to invite everyone, too many opinions can sometimes make the decision more difficult. The people who know you best will help you stay focused on how you feel in each dress.
Whether you bring your mum, sisters, best friends or come on your own, I'll make sure you feel comfortable and supported throughout your appointment.
What Should I Wear?
Don't worry about dressing up.
Comfortable underwear is all you really need, nude knickers with no VPL is a really strong recommendation, strapless bras arenβt really needed but you're welcome to bring it along, although many bridal gowns have built-in structure so it's often not essential.
Wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off, and if you already have your wedding shoes, feel free to bring them. If not, I have a podium and mirrors to help you imagine the finished look.
Most importantly, come as yourself. If you have time and are able try to have your hair as you imagine it will be on the day, but please donβt worry I am able to help you with putting hair up etc.
During Your Appointment
Your appointment is all about getting to know you and thatβs why allow 2 hours for each bridal appointment.
We'll chat about your wedding, your venue, your personal style, your budget ( dresses range from Β£995 to Β£2950, off the rail under Β£1250) and how you want to feel when you walk down the aisle. Every bride is different, and understanding your vision helps me guide you towards dresses you'll genuinely love.
We'll carefully select gowns based on everything we've discussed, but we also encourage you to keep an open mind. Many brides leave wearing a style they never expected to choose!
You'll have plenty of time to try on different silhouettes, fabrics and details, with me helping you discover what feels most like you.
There is never any pressure to make a decision. My role is to guide, support and celebrate with youβwhether you find your dress during your first visit or need a little more time.
How Long Does an Appointment Last?
I allow 2 hours which is plenty of time for your appointment so you can enjoy the experience without feeling hurried.
Trying on wedding dresses isn't something that should be rushed. Between changing gowns, chatting about your favourites and imagining your wedding day, time often flies by!
What If I Don't Find My Dress?
That's perfectly okay.
Finding your wedding dress is an important decision, and want you to feel completely confident before saying yes.
Some brides find their dress during their first appointment, while others visit more than once before making their decision. Everyone's journey is different, and there's no right or wrong timeline.
When Should I Start Shopping?
Ideally, I recommend starting your wedding dress journey around 12 to 18 months before your wedding.
Many designer gowns are made to order and can take several months to arrive, with alterations taking additional time.
If your wedding is sooner than that, don't panic. I have options available for shorter timelines and will always do my best to help you find something beautiful.
A Few Helpful Tips
Keep an open mindβyou may be surprised by what suits you.
Wear comfortable underwear.
Bring only your closest supporters.
Remember that bridal sizing is different from high street sizing, so don't focus on the number on the label.
Trust how you feel in the dress rather than everyone else's opinions.

Yes! I really encourage photography, I also love videos. You can then see how beautifully fabrics move and get a much better idea of the overall look of the gown.

I have dresses up to a size 22 in store to try on. I often have brides up to a size 24 who are able to try on 20 and size 22 dresses with the aid of a panel to close the back so you are able to see the fit when ordered in your size.

This is completely depandent on you. Usually most brides will try on between 4 to 8 dresses. But sometimes it will be less and sometimes more. Itβs important not to get overwhelmed and try on too many.
